Hi, beautiful people.
It’s been a minute since I’ve actually sat down to write.
Buttt, I have a lot on my heart and mind, so I’m excited to finally put it into words in hopes that it will resonate with many of you.
I’m learning a lot right now. Let’s just start with that. If you just graduated college and find yourself starting a very new season of life, I’m right there with you, and I think this blog will hit home for you. A lot of what I’m learning has to do with the changes that I’m currently facing in my life, but if you are in a different season, I know that these lessons can & will apply to you too!
This blog may be a little different than previous ones, but I really just wanted to share a few tips that have been extremely helpful in nurturing my faith in a season that I wouldn’t necessarily claim to love just yet.
I am learning that my day is a lot better when I talk to God non-stop.
If you’re anything like me, this may not come naturally right away. In the past, I have always read my Bible and prayed in the morning, or occasionally at night, but have never prayed much throughout my day.
Within the past month or so, I have started talking to the Lord continually throughout my day. I talk to him about my day and how I’m feeling. I pray for people. I tell Him how great He is. I invite Him into conversations. I say His name often.
Guys, I am telling you this makes a huge difference in our walk with the Lord. How often do we spend time with Him and then shut Him out of the rest of our day?
I feel nearer to Him. I feel like I’m truly walking step by step with Him. Step by step in the Spirit. It is incredible.
I am learning that the Lord cares about faithfulness and obedience.
I think we all have had moments or seasons in our lives that we wonder the significance or importance of. We wonder if what we’re doing truly has meaning and value. We mistake God’s definition of success for the world’s. So all of a sudden if we don’t have a huge platform, don’t land our dream job within a year of graduating, or are not out changing millions of lives, we throw our hands up in the air and wonder what the heck we’re doing.
But the Lord says, be faithful to me. He slows us down. He has work to do in us. Can I just say a lifetime of work by the way? A lifetime of faithfulness is what we’re after here.
I have so many passions and dreams that I want now, but I sense the Lord saying not yet. There is peace in this. There is protection. Protection from ourselves and what we think we can handle when we just aren’t ready yet. How great is our God that He is faithful in giving us what we need when we need it? Trust Him.
Be faithful and obedient with what He has placed in front of you – no matter how “small” it appears. Start that small group, even if it only has two girls. Do your job to the best of your ability, even if it takes place behind the scenes. Find every avenue that the Lord has entrusted to you at this point in your life, and immerse yourself in it! It is on one of these unlikely paths that the Lord may lead you into the very dreams that you dream about now, all because you made the choice to be faithful and obedient in the hard-to-love season.
Okay, didn’t mean to go off on a tangent in that last tip, but the last little nugget that I have for this blog is keep showing up. On the days that don’t feel glamorous or purposeful. Actually don’t just show up, but show up expectantly. There is so much joy, excitement, and surprise in doing life with the Lord. It’s like a treasure hunt. I am constantly searching for what He could possibly be doing in my life right now. Maybe not having a clear picture of the future isn’t such a bad thing after all. Go find Him for yourself! Throw off all distraction and search for Him. He is so near and so available… in every moment!
I know that this was more of a random blog, but if you have read this far, I hope it has encouraged you in some way. Keep pursuing and trusting His heart for you, friend. He loves you and has a better plan than you can even think of or imagine for yourself! Take it step by step, and day by day, and in each small step of obedience, a lifetime of faithfulness is created.
